Deglobalization : ideas for a new world economy

The terrorist attacks of September 11 and their aftermath have focused the world's attention on Islamic fundamentalism. This title aims to do two things: Rebut the misconceptions about Islam articulated by many European intellectuals down the centuries, and which still obstruct a clear understanding of both the nature of Islam and the history of Christian/Muslim Interactions; Demonstrate the very recent, politically motivated and theologically dubious nature and assertions of so-called Islamic fundamentalist movements; and contrast them with those socially progressive Muslim thinkers who have sought to address the inescapable questions thrown up for believers by the modern world.
